Before you change any settings, make sure your own home network is ready.No software can fix a broken connection.
Use an Ethernet Cable: Do not use Wi-Fi for gaming. Plug your computer directly into your router with a cable.
Close Background Downloads: Turn off video streams and updates on other devices.
Check Your Base Ping: Know your normal ping so you can see if ExitLag helps you. Scenario 1: The Quick and Easy Setup
This path is best if you want to start playing right away.ExitLag has smart systems that do most of the work for you. Step 1: Optimize the Game Open the ExitLag program. Look at the search bar on the left side. Type the name of your game and click on it. Step 2: Choose the Game Region Click the Game Region dropdown menu.
Select the region where your game’s server lives. For example, choose US East if you play on New York servers.
Do not choose a server close to your house if the game server is far away. Always match the game’s actual server location. Step 3: Apply the Settings Click the red button that says Apply Routes.
Start your game. ExitLag will now guide your game data through the fastest tunnels. Scenario 2: The Advanced Setup for Lowest Lag
If the quick setup does not lower your ping enough, you can change the settings yourself.This path gives you more control over your connection. Step 1: Change Route Settings Select your game in ExitLag. Look for TCP Routes and set the number to 2. Look for UDP Routes and set the number to 2.
These routes act as backup lanes. If one lane gets crowded, your game data takes the other lane instantly. Step 2: Turn on Optimization Features Click on the Tools icon on the left menu. Find the General tab.
Turn on High Priority. This tells your computer to focus on your game before anything else.
